How to use the state wheel
- Trim to your region
Keep the full 50 for national trivia, or delete rows until only the states in your lesson or trip remain.
- Set the repeat rule
Turn on auto remove winner for a no-repeat quiz round, or leave it off so every spin draws from the whole list.
- Spin and ask the question
Put the capital, abbreviation, or map question to the group, or drop the winning state onto your travel shortlist.
Keep the result low-stakes. Do not use a random state to decide grades, discipline, accommodations, eligibility, or another consequential outcome. For travel, check current weather, distance, cost, access, closures, and official local guidance. A driver must wait until safely parked to use ChoiceSpin.
What is on the wheel, and how to trim it
Every state appears once under its full name. Washington, D.C. and the territories are deliberately left off, so add them as extra rows when a quiz counts them. For a regional round, delete down to the states you are actually covering, then keep that shorter list in My Wheels for next time.
For a class working through a states unit, turn on auto remove winner and each drawn state drops off before the following spin. After heavy editing, download a .wheel file so the custom list has a backup.
State prompts for learning and planning
Define the eligible states before spinning and record important assignments separately.
- Classroom Geography question: Select a state for a prepared capital, abbreviation, map, history, or neighboring-state question.
- Projects State research topic: Assign a research subject from a reviewed list and record the result outside the wheel when needed.

Common questions
Is Washington, D.C. on the wheel?
No. The preset holds exactly the 50 states. Add D.C., Puerto Rico, or another territory as a new row whenever your quiz treats them as answers.
Can I run through all 50 states without repeats?
Yes, with auto remove winner switched on: a state that has been drawn leaves the wheel. The automatic run stops once two states remain, so pick between the final pair yourself.
Does Texas have the same chance as Rhode Island?
Yes. Map size does not matter here: every enabled state starts with the same chance, and only a duplicated row or an Advanced weight shifts the totals.
